90-day Utility Deferral Program (see here if you are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 )

Alberta Student Loan Deferral (info for Albertans who are repaying their student loans is here)

Employment Standards – job protections (information about job protected leave for those Albertans forced to self-isolate is here)

ATB Financial Measures (ATB Financial customers impacted by COVID-19 may have access to deferrals on ATB loans, lines of credit, and mortgages. Small businesses can also access additional working capital – info here)

Alberta Credit Unions (Information is here for individuals and businesses who are members of a credit union have access to a variety of programs designed to ease difficulties with loan repayments and short-term cash flow)

EI Sickness Benefits (Albertans who cannot work due to illness have access to EI sickness benefits for up to 15 weeks – see here)

Canada Emergency Response Benefit ($2000/month for up to four months for qualifying Canadian workers who have lost their income because of COVID-19 – application is here)

Canada Child Benefit (eligible recipients will receive $300 more per child with their regular May CCB benefit – info here)

Canada Student Loans (The repayment of Canada Student Loans and Canada Apprentice Loans will be paused until September 30, 2020 with no accrual of interest – info here)

Increased GST Rebate (Low and modest income Albertans will automatically receive a one-time special payment in mid April 2020 through the Goods and Services Tax credit – info here)

Eased rules for Senior’s RRIFs (The Government of Canada is reducing required minimum withdrawals from Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIFs) by 25% for 2020 – see here)

FOR BUSINESSES

2020 WCB Premium Payment Deferral (In addition, the Alberta Government will pay 50% of the deferred premium for small and medium sized employers in 2021 – info here)

Corporate Income Tax (The provincial government has deferred the collection of Corporate Income Tax balances and installment payments until after August 31, 2020 – see here)

The Alberta Bits & Pieces Program
We are receiving offers of material and volunteer help from companies and individuals on a daily basis. In order to capture all of these offers and ideas in a central database so that the planners of our COVID-19 effort can access them quickly when needed, the Alberta Government has set up the Bits and Pieces Program.
